Brave Nude World
Brave Nude World First Time Nudism Joining a Nudist Camp
That Gustav Vigeland loved mankind is apparent. He spent over 40 years creating the massive array of statuary which is his tribute to Man. One of the most astonishing displays of nude stone in the world is Vigeland Sculpture Park, part of Oslo's Frogner Park, where some 75 acres is covered with 130 sculptural groups integrated in an artistic unity.
Vigeland was born in 1869, and his early artistic life was a struggle against poverty and hunger. However, at 20 his genius was recognized and Norway sent him abroad to study. For ten years afterwards he sculpted traditional busts of famous men, many of which can be seen in an Oslo museum devoted to his works. This museum, which had been his studio, was opened to the public after the artist died in 1943.
